What Happens When You Move In?

When you move into your apartment for the first time, there’s always a steady pattern of things you can readily expect! Moving in can be a hectic, stressful experience for many, but there’s always a silver lining on the horizon if you know just what you’re getting into!

Moving in is not always an inherently time-consuming experience, but there’s always a level of scope and routine involved that makes it very familiar for those who have moved multiple times. But for the rookie mover, there’s always a sense of awkwardness when it comes to living on your own for the first time. Thankfully, we’re here to give you the best tips on what to expect for your first residential move!

  1. PICK UP YOUR KEYS! The first thing you’ll want to do is go collect your keys from the leasing office. Make sure to attach them to something that will help keep track of them, as well as take any spares you may receive if you lose your first set.

  1. TAKE INVENTORY! Make sure you have everything you need for a successful move. Look for your immediate requirements and plan out how you want to unpack.

  1. MAKE NOTES ABOUT YOUR APARTMENT! Have any initial concerns about your new unit? Make sure to make plenty of notes on the status and condition of your apartment. If you have any issues, consult your leasing staff to help resolve the issue ASAP. They will be glad to help make sure you’re feeling as welcome as possible in your new home.

  1. GET GROCERIES! Do not come home to an empty fridge! As soon as you’re done moving things around, you’re going to want to make sure you’re fully stocked as soon as possible, especially when you get hungry. And do not forget about bathroom and cleaning supplies as well!

  1. MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS! If your neighbors are in, introduce yourself! It is good to know who you’ll be sharing your space with. Remember to always follow through with proper noise precautions, as well as to always be courteous to those living around you.

Don’t worry about the adjustment period. Enjoy your new home and celebrate your successful move! Decorate, explore your community, and make some memories you’ll never forget!
